Volume 5, August 2013

Hey Friends!

For this months update I decided to do something a little different. A few weeks ago, one of my Canadian churches, Calvary Fellowship Ottawa, had a regional conference and they asked for a little video update from each of their missionaries. I thought I would share this informal video update with you as well! It will give you a little peak into life and ministry here in Uganda. I thought some of my other supporting churches might also like to share this video with their congregations.

The Lord continues to bless and strengthen us—His steadfast love and faithfulness never fails! Earlier this month I was reading Proverbs 3. For some reason I always noticed the “famous” verse: “trust in the Lord with all your heart…” But, this time the Lord drew my attention to this verse: “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” (Prov. 3:3) I began to think about this verse and pray that the Lord would help me live it out and “bind” faithfulness and steadfast love into my daily life.

So, when I'm hanging wash rags out on the line for the millionth time (ok, that’s an exaggeration!) or spraying and cleaning up after bugs yet again, I preach the doctrine of faithfulness to myself. Whether people notice or appreciate, or whether it's a menial task, we are called to faithfulness and love for our Savior. And, the power for such faithfulness and love comes from the very definition and person of perfect love and faithfulness--Jesus Christ. When a day didn’t quite go the way you hoped, or when you are misunderstood or not appreciated, or you’re simply tired from a long day, we look to our Savior and are encouraged and strengthened by HIS steadfast love and faithfulness to us.

Throughout the last few weeks, I have continually noticed how many times and how many different passages talk about God’s steadfast love & faithfulness. Psalm 92:2 says: “To declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night.” In the morning we remind ourselves of His steadfast love and at night we see and recount His continuing faithfulness to us!

Thank you for your continued prayers, love, and support-I think of you often and praise God for your part in what He is doing here.

Love, Laura
